Source Methodology
InmateLink uses a source-first approach for directory information, marketplace listings, and supporting content.
Source priority
- Official source first: facility pages, court pages, agency pages, licensing boards, regulator pages, and direct provider pages are preferred.
- Third-party directories may be used for discovery or review context, but they do not replace direct source evidence.
- Directory information should be verified with the provider, facility, court, or official agency.
- When source evidence is missing or unclear, the field should remain blank, hidden, or routed to review.
How directory fields are handled
- Directory fields should keep a source link or note when available.
- Conflicting source evidence should be checked before it appears in a public listing.
- Facility and court records should stay connected to the same official record when possible.
- Link-only public lookup information must not become person-level custody data, form submissions, or search results.
When information needs more checking
- Information that needs more checking can still help the review team, but it is not final public approval.
- A listing update request or vendor contact does not mean the listing is ready for public display.
- Marketplace listings require review before expanded public display.
- Users and vendors can request corrections or listing updates when public details need to change.
